As a self-proclaimed artist and chatty person that I am, some of my teammates in the office that I’ve been for a year, pretty know how I love art and how I sometimes spend my weekends painting and drawing. Good thing that one from my team is also an art enthusiast who introduced Sip and Gogh to me. I was eager to try it but due to different work schedules, we haven’t visited this studio in Kapitolyo, Pasig until one Saturday of August.
As we stepped inside the studio, I was quite sure it will be my happy place for a couple of hours that afternoon. The room was full of vibrant paintings on a canvas, neatly arranged on three-layered shelves. Those paintings featured various subjects like animals, nature etc. There are three long tables across the studio with easels, black aprons and brushes arranged on top of it. There is a shelf beside the reception area stacked up with wine, frames and Sip and Gogh shirts and tumblers. At the center of the wall in front is their Sip Gogh trademark with a striking yellow background. It’s like the perfect, small place where you can discover your “inner Van Gogh” which is good for kids or adults, professionals or hobbyists. This is a perfect way to spend your weekend with family, friends or just by yourself.

After paying Php 1,000 each, the three of us were introduced to one of their in-house art instructors who assisted us all throughout. They told us that the length of time depends on the complexity of the painting that we will do. We were given enough time to roam around the room and find a painting that we liked and would serve as our reference as we move along. The good thing about Sip and Gogh is that they give you options whether to choose from their collection of paintings as your reference or just create your own. After we chose our references, the instructor put acrylic paints on our individual palettes and taught us basic techniques (mixing colors, proper brushstrokes, and sketching) as we started our individual piece.
We were also offered snacks and drinks from their menu which were already covered in our registration fee. Additional orders are subject to additional payment. They offer varied snacks and drinks. They have cocktail, beers and non-alcoholic beverages too. Both of my friends tried the Bar Nibble Plate with Raspberry wine. I, on the other hand, got the Cheese and Salami and Margarita. I didn’t actually expect much in their food as I understand that the painting materials can be a little bit pricey but when the sumptuous snacks were served, it really helped me to boost my mood to paint.

From time to time, one of the art instructors would check how everyone’s doing and sometimes would take pictures of us. All in all, we spent two and a half hours to finish our artworks. After that, we were asked to pose in front with our paintings and have our pictures taken, just like the other participants. And of course, we took our precious masterpieces with us. They gave us this classy paper bag for our paintings and also a 10% discount card should we go back and paint again - which I would really love to do soon. One of my friends is not really inclined to art and it was actually her first time but she enjoyed the session so I’m positive this Sip and Gogh experience is definitely for everyone. In fact, during our stay there, we’ve seen parents with their kids. There were also group of teenagers and some couples that probably opted to go on a-not-so-typical date.
Below are our artworks vs. the reference from Sip and Gogh

How to Get There
Either you are from Taft or North EDSA, ride MRT to Boni Station. From Robinsons Forum in Boni, Mandaluyong, ride a tricycle and ask the driver to drop you off at Memphis (or just simply tell them ACE). From Memphis, you should be able to see the ACE Water Spa Building. It’s a 3-5minutes walk from there. It’s located at the 2nd Floor, ACE Building.
Or just visit their site https://www.sipandgogh.com/ and check out for other branches near you. As of this writing, they have already four other branches including Ayala Heights, Atelier, Alabang and Eastwood. They also conduct painting sessions so you might want to avail that too. You can also check out more details on their Facebook page.
